When it rains it pours...

After my little sob story about how arid it is here, we copped a huge thunder storm today!! Fortunately it is nothing compared to the Tsunami overseas... RIP to the tens of thousands that have died and best wishes to their families and friends.

Back to the story... In approximately an hour and a half we received nearly 17mm of rain today, which is more than our monthly average for December...
Our city relies on spoon drains (lumps in the road that channel the water) and limited underground drainage to direct the flow of storm water into Gribble Creek. The creek then flows out to a huge salt lake. It was amazing how quickly this creek filled today...

And what do you know... the neighbours have their sprinklers going...
