A big burn, or a few little burns?

What is it with these dickhead arsonists? Do they get some kind of high from lighting these fires? The b@stards always seem to light the fires on the hottest, windiest days for that extra thrill, pushing our fire fighting resources to their limits and risking lives. If CALM (Department of Conservation and Land Management) was allowed more freedom to 'control burn' some forrest areas, the risks for everyone would be greatly reduced when the arse-hole-nists decide to be destructive.

I am totally for Controlled Burning. The greenies get all up in arms about burning out the forrest, but it is a natural phenomenon that will eventually happen no matter what, ie. lightning strike. The fact is, if the greenies get their way there will be no controlled burning, meaning the leaf litter and foliage on the ground accumulates leading to an even bigger fire when it occurs.

You'd think the recent fires around Perth would open the eyes of some of the hill's home owners, but you still see many houses with trees that overhang the roof, gutters overflowing with combustible material and overgrown 'gardens' just begging to burn.

Be fire safe hills people... Don't think it won't happen to you, because it just might.
