Shop hours vote a win for small retailers
I'm against extended shopping hours for the most part. My thinking is that if you can't get off your butt and get to the shops during the 50 odd hours they are open, then you obviously don't want the item you are after.
Perhaps a solution would be to keep shops open until 6pm each night and 9pm Thursdays. Everyone deserves a day off, so Sundays should be a no-no except to businesses that do half their sales over weekends (ie. hardware stores, nurseries etc.)
This would give people a bit of extra time to grab that special something on the way home from work when they finished work.
