I must admit, I've never been to the city stages of the Rally Australia, but it is a sad state of affairs when the government decides its not worth having a world reknowned event in the state because its supposedly not making as much money as expected. Its not making a loss by any means, but obviously not enough for our greedy government to warrant forking out coin to run.
Rally drivers have raved about the different rally surface (round gravel tracks) that WA offers, compared to the other events around the world. Other states in Australia, I guess, could be likened to New Zealand in the road texture. It would be interesting to hear some comments from the WRC drivers.
I wonder how much additional tourism is created from people around the world watching Rally Australia TV coverage and seeing our gorgeous bushland and city. Well, its gone now... Well done Tourism Minister Mark McGowan...
